📐 What is the AMC?

The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) is run by the Australian Maths Trust (AMT) and has been inspiring and challenging students since 1978. It is now one of the largest single-event maths competitions in the world, with students from over 30 countries participating every year.

Unlike school tests, the AMC focuses on mathematical thinking and creative problem solving — not just memorising formulas. Questions are carefully crafted each year by leading mathematicians and educators to engage students at every level, from curious beginners to future Olympians.

Every student who participates receives an award certificate. High performers can earn Distinction, High Distinction or even a Prize — recognition that looks excellent on school and university applications.
